Whiskey Hollow Road
~Baldwinsville, New York - November, 2007
We had decided to check out the Whiskey Hollow Road after reading that it was known to be "haunted." Not only were there stories of the haunting, it was simply a creepy looking area, worthy of checking into.
The sometimes conflicting stories go, at some point in the past there was a man who had been wrongly convicted of murder. As punishment or as holding before his punishment he was placed in a small shack at the end of Whiskey Hollow Road. Due to unknown circumstances the man mysteriously died in the shack before his execution or during his incarceration. His wife being stricken with grief over his untimely death and wrongful conviction, she apparently hung herself from a tree located somewhere along the road. Many claim the tree still stands and she haunts the area.
Upon our location of Whiskey Hollow Road we discovered that the main entrance is posted and no admittance after dark is permitted, although when we found the other end of the road there are no signs or mention of this, we then drove from the latter end and parked our car to record and take pictures of some of the area. Although it was a somewhat creepy area and we encountered a family of feral cats as well as the glowing eyes of deer, not much of any significance happened.
One little scare involved what sounded like something (or someone) running through the trees, down the hill towards us. Thinking maybe a deer was headed our way or even the grief stricken wife of legend, we held our ground. Soon, a huge gust of wind blew leaves between and around us before it passed across the road and back into the woods. It simply added to the creepy vibe of an otherwise windless night.
We were soon scared away as a vehicle approached us, seemingly looking for the weekend party that apparently takes place regularly on this uninhabited road.
While looking at our pictures, we did find some unusual orb activity as well as a strange mist, even though it was not a foggy or rainy night.
Whiskey Hollow Road is located in Baldwinsville, New York off Route 31, taking a right on Hoag Road, right on W. Dead Creek Road, and a left onto Whiskey Hollow Road. The address is actually Memphis New York, although it is located closer to Baldwinsville.
Item of note: I, the editor of this site (PK), felt something very oppressive around the time the wind passed us by. Thoroughly creeped out, I felt as though someone was watching us. What's interesting to me is that when we'd walked towards where we saw the feral cats, I felt completely unafraid. It was only after walking in the opposite direction that I started to feel odd. I love walking around at night and rarely get creeped out, even in cemeteries. I more often feel this vibe only when in a dark basement or other closed in place. This time, though, it was outdoors.
